Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Comas.
Yvonne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was younger, I really enjoyed doing my own nails. I thought I was going to be a nail technician, but it was my sister’s love for hair that inspired me to learn every aspect of Cosmetology. I decided to enroll at Pivot Point International Academy. While there, I had the privilege to attend a class in Italy, which motivated my passion for hair.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
After graduating from beauty school, I did not have any luck in finding a salon that was a good fit for me. It was about a year after that I had the opportunity to start working at my first salon, Robert Jeffery where I began working as an assistant. Struggling to be the best I can as a hairstylist I finally made it to the salon floor. This was just the beginning of more bumps in the road to overcoming.
After 4 years at Robert Jeffrey, I had to say goodbye. I was very grateful for everything I had learned but was ready for a change. When I decided to start over it was no easy task for me or my clients but Nichole Beck Hair Boutique made me feel comfortable, I knew it was the right choice to make.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the NicholeBeck Hair Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
Nichole Beck Hair Boutique is the salon I’ve been working for 4 years now. I have been working with them since their beginning and couldn’t have asked for a better place for me. At the salon, I do a lot of coloring and cutting but what I’m known for is change. I love switching up my clients look from changing their color or going from long to short hair.
What sets me apart from others is I do hair and makeup. Being able to do both I really can create the best canvas for my clients. They trust me to make them feel and look their best. when they leave my chair very happy it makes me feel very proud of what I do every day.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The best luck I’ve found is meeting successful women that motivate me to be better every day and even though I did not find a salon right after beauty school I believe everything fell into place at the right time. Good or bad, everything happens for a reason and I’m so thankful for it all.
