Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivian Arpino.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Vivian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was trained by Charles Ifergan and began my career at his Oak Street salon.
In 1990, I was offered the opportunity to style hair for guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show during my days off, and the next year, I began doing the same for anchors at CBS New Chicago.
Eventually, I became the lead hairstylist for the show and continued there until the end of its run.
The first BloOuts Blow Dry Bar location opened in Highland Park in 2013 after the show ended. Blow dry bars were gaining popularity in other cities, and I noticed an opening in the marketplace on the North Shore.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a very smooth ride thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way and continues to do so.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BloOuts Blow Dry Bar story. Tell us more about the business.
BloOuts offers $35 BloOuts, along with braids and up dos.
Our goal is for our clients to walk out feeling confident and sexy and proud of the way they look, whether they’re attending a special event or coming in for a weekly appointment.
While working on The Oprah Winfrey Show, I was able to gain valuable experience while trading notes with celebrity stylists and mastering the art of achieving superior results under extreme time constraints.
The collective experience of both myself and my team sets us apart. I personally train all of our stylists, each of whom have previously received great instruction and are experts in finishing.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Personally, I’m planning on opening more locations in the near future. I love the blow dry bar concept and what I do and am excited for what’s to come!
