Today we’d like to introduce you to Veranda Adkins and LaTonya Morgan.
Veranda, LaTonya – please share your story with us.
Veranda attended a paint and sip party for a friend and really liked it. She jokingly shared with her friends that she was going to open one. When mentioned to LaTonya, LaTonya went out and found a space and the next thing we knew we were searching for a name and doing research on how to open. Probably within three weeks of having that initial conversation, we were having our first party. It was a very fast start and it has been nonstop since.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! Neither of us are artists, we are business owners, so it was difficult at first to find the artists to create the images we wanted to represent Creative Sippin. We had the visions, but needed someone else to put those visions on canvas. That was really tough, but we have a great team now that has embraced the Creative Sippin culture and we even do custom paintings for private events now.
Please tell us about Creative Sippin’.
We are the “party house” paint and sip. A night at Creative Sippin is not just bring some wine and come in and take a pretty picture home. We are focused on the entertainment piece of the paint and sip so that people have a great experience at our place. To do this, we offer fun themed nights like “Canvas & Comedy” which features some of the best comedians in the city doing stand-up after the painting, “Kanvas & Karaoke”, and our most popular night “Girls Naughty Night Out” which involves painting a picture of a male nude model and then doing a twerk class after.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we had to start over, the only thing I can think of would be to get the word out as soon as we started the planning process. We had so many people in our own network that were booking paint parties and they said that would have waited had they known we were coming. Everything else we have been through has helped to make us the business we are today.
