Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Dobson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story started when I was 18 years old. I was fresh out of high school and graduated a few months early. I always have had a passion for beauty, makeup and skincare, and that’s what led me to become an Esthetician. I went to school shortly after I graduated highscool and fell in love with the art of makeup. I knew I was going to be competing with a lot of people to get my name out there, but it never stopped me from pursuing my passion as a makeup artist. I have worked with Tamanna Roshan aka @Dressyourface on instagram when I was 19 years old. I got familiar with the highlight and contour and the different shapes and skin tones to work on. I shortly after freelancing in Chicago, moved to Denver, Co. I started working at Mac Cosmetics in Nordstrom. I was able to really let my artist out working for Mac cosmetics. I would ask people every day to come and sit down and let me do their makeup for free just so I can master working on different types of skin, ethnicities, and genders. Working at a makeup counter taught me that you have to hustle every day! After a year and a half, I decided to start my eyebrow obsession where I worked at a waxing studio in downtown Denver and worked part-time freelancing for clients in Denver, Boulder, and Chicago. I eventually moved back home to Chicago, and that’s where I’ve been freelancing ever since!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s most definitely challenging, but it’s a good type of challenge. Everyone has ups and downs along the way, but it’s about staying true to yourself and always believing that you can do it. Even if it means being turned down or criticized.

I am a Makeup Artist and a Licensed Esthetician. I specialize in eyebrow shaping and bridal/event makeup. I am most proud of as a brand being a self-employed full time mother. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I won’t stop your makeup until it’s perfect, and everything you were hoping for.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Yes, I definitely think growing up and seeing my sister as a cosmetologist inspired me to want to be in the beauty industry.
