Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Amann & Rachel Benson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah & Rachel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Sarah & Rachel Productions was born in the spring of 2015 where we had such a passion to combine everything we loved: film, creativity, and working together. We actually started our channel to produce a music documentary, but it quickly opened up a whole new world for us! It was our outlet to tell our story, our struggles from coming out, and our relationship blossoming. We got to share all our firsts with our amazing audience: Moving out together, celebrating our first holidays as an official couple, and then moving to the big city of Chicago together! Over the last 3 years, we’ve spent countless nights editing, studying SEO, researching the ins and outs of making it an actual business, and it’s finally brought us to over 70,000 subscribers. We answer hundreds of messages a week helping fans who ask for advice about their personal struggles or life stories.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth road? No. Such a bumpy, curvy, rounded, and crazy road, but SO worth it all. We knew going into this that it wasn’t going to be super easy. If it was a piece of cake, everyone would do it!
Not personally knowing anyone else in the industry and figuring out everything on our own from scratch with trial and error were the toughest things for sure.
Our advice for starting out is one thing: consistency. Continuing even without any sort of gain for so long is really tough, but we closed our eyes and continued no matter what. Sometimes putting your life out in the world for everyone to see is really hard and many people can’t do it. If anyone has the desire to do this, stay consistent and grow some thick skin!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sarah & Rachel Productions – what should we know?
We create content through sharing our lives in video on YouTube and photos on Instagram. Our business earns us money through advertising that plays in our videos, plus brand sponsorships and affiliate marketing! We also have some other exciting things we’re adding to our work flow very soon 😉
Honestly, we’re most proud of how many people continue to send us messages about how our content saved their lives. It’s jaw dropping to hear from people that we have made such an impact for them. Our other favorite part is the incredible connections we have been able to make, both in terms of friendships and in some of the really fun companies we have been able to partner with such as Cirque Du Soleil, Broadway, a motion picture production company, and many others!
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Whether it’s entrepreneurship or otherwise, be confident! The world needs more strong and successful women out there crushing it!
