Thanks for sharing your story with us Precious. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a 34-year-old mother first. Small business owner and Chicago Public Schools Special Ed, Class Asst. I took a lash class in 2016 just to make extra money, after 6 months I’d fallen in love with the before and after those eyelash extensions given. The smile that I can give my clients something so small as adding eyelashes brought me joy. I now own a Lash Studio/Salon in the Edgewater area. I’m still working just as hard now as I did first start out. Always trying to stay innovative and educated in my craft. This is just the beginning of my story…
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been obstacles and there will be obstacles. I don’t think anything worth having comes too easy. I had days where I wanted to give up, felt like it was overwhelming, sacrificing time with my children was probably the most difficult all while losing my first born child a month ago. While still trying to know that it’s for the greater good. The advice I’ll give to other women is don’t be afraid to fail, I think that’s always the first question we have as entrepreneurs just jumping out there is what if I fail or if it doesn’t work. It will work! Stay dedicated to your craft, become an ongoing learner and Network as much as you can.

I am a Lash Technician, or artist rather. I specialize in volume lashes and unicorn lashes which are just colorful lashes. I am most proud of the quality and professionalism I offer. I try and treat every client how I’d want to be treated, every time. I would have to say my professionalism and care for my clients set me apart. Sometimes I feel like a therapist while I’m lashing lol. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I feel like now more than ever women are in a position to do it all. We can do whatever we like. I feel like the tenacity and work ethic that women have conquered is unparallel to everyone. Women are taking over the world, lol. So, I don’t feel as if there are opportunities that are just positioned for women, we want all the positions and we can get them!
