Meet Trailblazer Danielle Rochon Bouldon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Rochon Bouldon.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from college with an accounting degree during the recession. I’d always loved makeup but didn’t really understand you could make a career out of it. After waiting so long for an accounting job, I decided to focus my attention on makeup. I worked at Mac for 3 years and decided I didn’t want to sell makeup anymore. I only wanted to do makeup. I started working on Danielle Rochon Makeup while I was at Mac. Once I left there, I focused all of my efforts on building Danielle Rochon Makeup!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly once I decided to trust God and step out on my own in faith, it has been wonderful. I’ve experienced very few bumps in the road.

When I have come across slow periods, I think of others ways I can use my gift to makeup money i.e. makeup classes and selling lip-gloss sets.

My advice to young women is to have faith in God and yourself. Get around people who build you up not tear you down. Read, read, read! Read your Bible, read business magazines and books, and read for pleasure. Be open-minded and always be kind. You’re going to come across people who aren’t okay with who they are so they’ll try to put you down or hold you back from your destiny with their words and actions. Be kind to them as well. Always take the high road!!! You will end up where you’re supposed to be! Enjoy the ride!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Danielle Rochon Makeup – what should we know?
I service All clients who are looking to have their makeup done. I’ve done makeup for headshots for business women, brides, special events, red carpet, etc. I’m known for natural makeup on brides. I average about 35 brides/bridal parties a year. I really enjoy working with brides because it’s a very special time in their lives and most of them are filled with joy.

I also have worked on Black Ink Crew Chicago as a makeup for season 3 and 4.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Believe in yourself!!!
Be a giver! Give the advice, help, support that you want to receive. When you’re a giver, God always makes sure you get more back!
Be positive!!! A positive outlook will take you far!
Don’t speak negatively about people to other people. We all have faults. We all need grace.
