Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Mancha.
Amber, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a passion for creating whether it was drawing, painting or playing music. When I was 19, I went to cosmetology school and that’s where I discovered art through hair and makeup. I opened my own business in 2013 and it was in that moment that I really felt creatively free. Everything was allowed to be my own creation and it was a chance for me to really use my imagination. In 2014, I started my youtube channel. Over the course of having my own business and YouTube channel and social media presence, I have also had a chance to work on television and really learn about makeup in so many different aspects and today I can do things ranging from bridal makeup to special effects.
Has it been a smooth road?
For me, the path has been relatively easy but I think that is only because creating is my true passion. This is not a business to get in if you’re looking for the money or fame. This is the business to get in if you have ideas and you want to share them with the world. Maybe you’ll get lucky and hit it big and maybe you won’t. The best payment is having a platform to be able to put something out there that you are truly proud of.

I specialize in enhancing the beauty that someone already has through makeup and I would say that’s what I am most known for. When people want to feel glamorous and beautiful they come to me. As far as what I am most proud of, I would have to say my work continues to evolve in a more skilled way. I like to take a ton of pictures because just over the course of a year my skills have changed tremendously and that is something I am extremely proud of. I would have to say I am a bit obsessed with what I do. I am always looking at pictures, watching videos, trying to learn new skills and every day I am putting what I have learned to the test. I think that is what sets me apart from others in the fact that I have a wide range of things that I know how to do and continue to teach myself new and different makeup techniques.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
YouTube. YouTube is single-handedly the greatest thing that we have at our fingertips for learning something new. I watch videos until my eyes burn. Sometimes, when I read things, I don’t understand them the same as when I watch how to do something and I think being able to see something in an instant is an incredible tool to have.
