Today we’d like to introduce you to Terri Wojak.
Terri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in the beauty industry at the age of 15 as a shampoo girl. I went on to work at a well-known salon and spa in the Midwest while attending college to be an accountant. During work one day an esthetician asked if she could give me a facial, having no idea what it was, I still said yes. In that hour and a half, I changed my career path to become an esthetician. I worked for 10 years at salons and spas before finding my way to Dr. Steven Dayan’s office. He is a well-known facial plastic surgeon with a great reputation and I was ecstatic to get a job working for him. I was originally hired to run the skin care department and within the first week of working there Dr. Dayan and I had a conversation about the need for education for estheticians working in the medical field. He told me to put something together, I thought he was joking, but it turns out he wasn’t. I worked tirelessly the next six weeks to put together the best 1 day medical esthetic training program I could. The class went great and we started getting more and more students from word of mouth and continued to grow. In the last decade, we have trained over 7000 professionals on aesthetics. I am passionate about my career and excited to see where the future takes me.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I was terrified of speaking in front of people and had to overcome my biggest fear, I now speak to audiences of hundreds at a time.
