Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Dawn Anderson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tabitha Dawn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
About 30 years ago, I became a licensed cosmetologist doing hair and makeup on clients both in salon and freelance, and have loved the field. After about five years into it, I decided that I wanted to build a portfolio to showcase my work and gain more clients. There was a problem though, I couldn’t afford a photographer at that time, so back to school I went to take a few photography classes. Little did I know, that this would arise a new passion, I would love photography, graphics, and retouching just as much as doing hair and face. In that enjoyment, my few classes turned into a four-year enthrallment of darkrooms to the digital. My passion for creativity on both sides has given me not work but sheer enjoyment for my entire career in beauty and photography.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In my struggles with both the beauty and photography fields is the non-consistency, especially in the freelance area. Highs and lows of the year are normal for both fields and usually coincide together. Like the wedding season which is spring through fall, is so busy that your head can spin, but in January you can hear your voice echo, a dramatic comparison but very truthful. I would love to do just freelance, and for the most part, I do, but there is always a need for a fill-in on a continuous basis.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tabi Beauty & Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My business consists of Beauty & Photography. Offering full beauty with select pro products, most curated from the labs and batch tested by me. Only the best products used and only the most detailed photo editing will do. I pride myself in being picky and lots of the time one photo will take over an hour in an edit. Most important is I listen, clients have stated that I created exactly what they wanted. Their vision is in my hands to produce. Receiving the correct end result is my ultimate goal, regardless if it is in beauty, a photograph, or on lots of occasions both.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My idea of luck is work hard and things will fall in place. I have been lucky overall, and life has been lovely.
