Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylk Negron and Danny Martinez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our story began years before we met, yet it wasn’t until we met that the magic began. From the day we met, we instantly discovered that we shared the same passion for people and photography. After working on multiple projects and weddings, we decided to join efforts and create Sylk Marti Studios. We’ve had an amazing journey, met incredible people and have captured unforgettable moments. We’ve learned to search for the true essence of a soul and to hold it still for years to come. We’ve laughed and cried with our clients, created amazing friendships and have felt a connection with every moment we’ve experienced. We’ve traveled to so many places to capture so many memories.
We’ve grown as human beings, we have learned from all the experiences and we’ve concluded that this is where we belong and what we do as photographers is the most rewarding experience we’ve had.
We love life and love to have fun with our clients. Our sessions are about enjoying the moment, and the rest just happens. We used to strive to be the best in the industry, but as time went on, we realized that didn’t matter, what matters is being the best for our clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success is never smooth. When we first joined efforts, we both did “everything”. We found we were being redundant and not maximizing our strengths. After a year or so, we realized that we would be so much more efficient if we capitalized on different areas of the company. Sylk took on business development, client interface and marketing and Danny took on the photography lead and editing, and we can’t leave out, the buyer of equipment better known as “studio toys”. It was then that we started growing and expanding our scope to where we are today.
To have the successful partnership, we have had many “come to Jesus” moments and have discussed and defined roles and responsibilities. Clearly, there is no “I” in the team. It doesn’t matter who brings in the business, who makes the sale, who contacts the client, who shot the image, who edited it, who bought the equipment… we are both responsible for each moment and each experience we have with the client. We are both proud of the product we produce.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sylk Marti Studios story. Tell us more about the business.
We are wedding and portrait photographers. We cover Weddings, Cotillions (Quinceañeras), Corporate Events, Head Shots, Boudoir, Newborn, and Family photography. Our strong suit is the superior customer service we provide. We are known for being genuine, for our animation with our clients. Anyone who has worked with us can attest to our fun personalities and a great sense of humor during shoots. There is never a dull moment when you’re with Sylk & Danny!
As a small company, we’ve accomplished a lot of growth in a short amount of time. We are most proud of being a WPPI International Award recipient, Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award recipient, and the 5-star rating on all of our reviews.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
