Meet Sue Jaber of Gorgeous You Salon and Spa in Bridgeview

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sue Jaber.

Sue, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Gorgeous You Salon and Spa accommodates a relaxing environment in which women get pampered by the finest professionals of salon care. We opened up our doors September 1, 2015 with hopes of offering our clientele the very best of everything in one relaxing, clean, modern shop.

Our number one goal is to please our clients in an environment where women are bonded by beauty. We understand that today’s women are classy, strong, independent, loyal, and loveable and one thing about them is they know they deserve better and that relaxing and peaceful environment is conveniently here! Our company has the most popular ethnic backgrounds enabling us to offer a diverse amount of services, and allowing us to understand traditional hair styles and services of all cultures.

Our salon doesn’t just offer a specific service/product/good but offers the most popular and most effective techniques of satisfying our clients, and keeps them coming back! By ensuring that we consistently keep up with the newest trends, we motivate our staff members to get the best education available to adapt to new social styles by holding continuous education classes. Now that you know a bit about us, we hope that all who enter our salon may feel our unity as “women bonded by beauty”!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a new salon owner and fairly new cosmetologist, I find the struggle the beauty industry is facing is unrealistic expectations. I feel that we need less glitter and hype within our industry and more substance in education in order to better meet job market and consumer demands.  Without a strong business education training program instilled the hairdresser is struggling to grow and build her clientele, many hairdressers are just getting by, far too many are leaving the profession, which in turn hurts the small salon business. Hairdressers need to understand that as a salon owner, waiting for us to give them clients & waiting on walk-ins isn’t going to benefit either of us!

Franchises are capable of providing their staff with an abundance of education and aren’t hurt by the constant turnover of staff. As a small business we provide our staff with constant training, education, ensuring that we are on top, because we believe our trade needs to meet our standards of excellence. However the turnover of a new staff being trained is a strain on our business.

Despite these challenges, I feel high end education and training provided to our staff will keep us in high demand with our clients.  We are determined to succeed, and stay committed to providing our clients with exceptional service and overcome these challenges.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Well this question was unexpected but, my favorite memory from childhood would have to be our annual tradition New Year’s party. My family and I would stay up till midnight watch the New York Apple drop as we munched on an abundance of food my wonderful mother had made. Simple but those are the moments that are truly the dearest to me.
