Meet Steve Ek of Ek Automotive in Edison Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Ek.

Steve, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ek Automotive first opened its doors on October 1, 1991. Over the years, what started as an auto repair shop has transformed from your typical repairs into a unique blend of art, rock and roll, and quality repairs. Dedicated to the community that helped build this dream, Ek Automotive has no intention of moving. Beyond our displays of unique re-purposed art, what really sets us apart is the genuine connection we have with our customers. It is our goal to create a fun and inviting experience for our customers and give back to the community that has served us so well.

Has it been a smooth road?
Ek Automotive started as a one man operation. “When we first opened the goal was just to keep the lights on, I never could’ve imagined it becoming such a staple in the community. It’s been an incredible ride.” Steve Ek says.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ek Automotive – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Ek Automotive is an award-winning auto repair shop. We deliver honest and high quality auto repair in the Chicago area.

Ek Auto Repair is a family owned and operated full auto repair facility. With over 70 years of combined auto repair experience and warranties on all our work, the quality of our work exceeds industry standards. Even more, as art enthusiasts we believe in a fun and unique experience for all. Our motto “Where Auto Meets Art” exemplifies the one of a kind experience that is Ek Automotive. We are proud to say that we are the most unique (and perhaps most fun!) auto shop in Chicago.

That said, our mission is much more than happy customers. We often throw free events to give back to the community. For example, just last week we had a “DIY Wine Rack” event where attendees built their very own, personalized wine racks out of reclaimed pallets. You can learn more about this event on our Blog “Where Auto Meets Art” here: http://www.ekautomotive.com/blog/

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love best about Chicago is the uniqueness of each neighborhood. The mix of cultures found in Chicago make for a unique experience, even if just a few miles away. Chicago is the home of so many entrepreneurs with people thrilled to support local businesses, which speaks to its own about how wonderful the people in this city can be. With the heart of the Midwest and the culture of the city, Chicago is and will always be my home.
