Meet Shona Mosley of Body Baby! The Body Sculpting Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shona Mosley.

Shona, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Chicago and the South Suburbs, I grew up in Altgeld Gardens Projects until I was 9 years old. I attended Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, I moved to Atlanta Ga in 2006 and remained there for the past 20 years. I decided that I wanted to return home to Chicago and open my business of offering service to a community that is often look over until funds or votes are needed.

I wanted to open a beautiful, tranquil “Mommy Day Care” that allows women of all economic backgrounds the affordability to be pampered, get healthy and feel beautiful both inside and out. I thought it was important to put my business in the heart of the city to ensure you it was accessible to the audience I wanted to reach. The business has been very successful in the 8 months since we’ve been open with customers from all nationalities who love the service we provide.

After being in Atlanta, GA for the past 20 years, I decided it was time for me to start a new chapter in my life. My daughter now 22 is in college, living her life, so I decided it was time for me to start fulfilling some things on my bucket list. I had enough college degrees and corporate offices to last a lifetime. I quit my job as a Software Implementation Analyst after 15 years of service to the company, pulled down my 401K, packed up and moved back home (Chicago) to fulfill my promise that we all should commit too when you are able to give back to your community you do so.

I’ve been able to open a beautiful establishment that my clients love. I’ve met so many people from all walks of life who love the uniqueness of the services we provided at Body Baby. The culture and beauty of Chicago are unparalleled.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Body Baby has been opened for the past 8 months and the business have flourished. We’ve run into some hurdles with staffing, but our clients are resilient and have not wavered. They were able to adjust and we are now moving in the right direction with staff and clients that absolutely adore each other.

I really get thrilled when I am able to come into the shop and have conversations with clients, see photos from vacations or even just lend an ear to someone who may have had a bad day. I often tell clients, drop by and visit us even if you don’t have an appointment. Come in and sit down and take the weight of the world off your shoulders, just be still in the moment and absorb the tranquility and peace that Body Baby eludes.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment thus far was to be able to drive up to the Spa on a daily basis and Say “Hey, I did that”!!!! My vision just came true. GOD truly does love little ol’ me. I also get very excited when customers say ” LOOK AT ME”, Look how good I look and it all because of Body Baby!
