Today we’d like to introduce you to Colleen Scheive, DMD.
Colleen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My love for the medical field started in the second grade. We were in an Anatomy class at the local community college and dissecting a pig was the coolest experience! I went on to received my degree in dental medicine from Temple University in Philadelphia. But dentistry runs in my family and has been a passion since I was in high school and first worked as an assistant in my father’s oral surgery office. I love my job, strives to give clear, candid consultations, and aims to put my patients at ease. The beauty of creating a smile, is such a special art for me and the best part is the impact it has on the patients.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Coming into dentistry you are not prepared with business experience, this has been a challenge in an industry that can feel isolating, tight quarters, no lunches some days. But working with my Invisalign Group has made such a great impact on my struggles and helped with peer to peer support.
Please tell us about Scheive Family Dental Care.
I have spent years advancing my skills in restorative dentistry, orthodontic treatment using Invisalign®, as well as the surgical placement of dental implants. We genuinely enjoy working with children and has extensive experience with pediatric dentistry and the child dentition.
But I am most proud of the relationships we create here with our patients. We send cards to celebrate lots of moments in their lives or to show support in the hard moments, because we care about them and love being part of this community.
