Meet Samantha Helmig of Shannon Gail Weddings and Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Helmig.

Samantha, please share your story with us. 
Shannon is the owner of our company, but also my sister! I was lucky enough to be raised in the wedding industry, and becoming a planner was just the natural progression of things. I thought about pastry school, worked as a makeup artist, and then chose to explore the land of planning and couldn’t be happier!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The industry and vendors are ever-changing. I’d say the biggest struggle was getting my name out there and trying not to be labeled as “new”. Networking was truly key, and I have met such awesome people along the way.

Please tell us about Shannon Gail Weddings and Events.
We specialize in weddings of all sizes, budgets, and ethnicities. What I am most proud of is the sense of “team” the girls and I have. We are truly friends outside of our company, and all help each other’s clients out when needed! Shannon has a background in finance, so the quality of our budget spreadsheets is like none other. We have planners on our team from every nook and cranny of the industry – finance, catering, decor, makeup, calligraphy, etc., so we feel as though we have the knowledge to cover all of our bases.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t know that I would. I had a strong support system coming into this business, and was taught by the best of the best!
