Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Kotschi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Robert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a painting contractor back in early 90’s. A Realtor approached me and asked if I do rehab work. She had a property in need of many repairs. I told her no at the time, but she insisted and asked for an estimate. Of course I did the estimate and was awarded the job. It needed everything from new cabinets to flooring, a new bath, painting and some exterior siding issues. We completed the job on time and transformed this house to a marketable condition. She was very pleased with the work. She had told us she works with Freddie Mac and they have multiple houses in need of repairs, some more than others. We contacted Freddie with her help and was immediately put on a vendor list to provide repairs on their foreclosures. It all started back in 2001 and continued to 2016 providing our services. Which now include, Property management, homeowners, Capital investment companies and working with a company from Virginia providing safety ramps and rails for the newly injured. We have recently contracted with a company providing repairs to Walmart’s, Kohls and Old Navy.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not always a smooth road. In the beginning, I did most of the work myself with a handful of subs. Long hours and day to day operations to deal with. Working long hours making sure clients were happy with the results was stressful. Some clients envision the repairs differently. Not seeing my family as often as I should. Building a business comes with its sacrifices.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Small Job Home Pros – what should we know?
Yes, the name is “Small Job Home Pros” but we have done over 2500 rehabs in multiple counties. We are general contractors, but small enough to put up a hallway light for a client. I am most proud to develop something from nothing. Creating a brand that people can trust. Our estimates are one price, we do not work hourly for people.

I had a mentor early in life. His motto was drilled in our heads…PMA (positive mental attitude) this has been with me all my life. My parents were hard workers and always encouraging.
