So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A home builder for many years until the 2008 recession, I was put out of business and decided to make my hobby of collecting cool items my new career. A fellow pawnbroker and my closest friend took me in and taught me the ropes and helped in a business model. We opened our doors in 2010 and have grown a little every year. We find ourselves in a unique situation of helping people out where regular banks can’t. We really do help keep the lights on and the car running for many people. In addition to the small short bridge style loans we offer, Jewelry has become a huge part of our day! Many are looking for that special or different piece of jewelry or to just save a ton of money! With the extra exposure of the TV Shows, Pawn Shops are now the cool chic place to shop! Looking for gear for your band? We can help with that. A generator for when the power goes out, we have those! Want to go fishing? We even have your gear for that.
Has it been a smooth road?
Growth has been the largest struggle to overcome. Folks need money and we need to have it to help them. Filling the store with inventory also requires capitol. The right mix of personnel is also critical to achieving the great relationships we have our customers. They need to be understanding, and creative in finding the best ways to help.

We supply much needed capital for when the unexpected happens. Most regular banks do not offer small loans from 20 to 500 dollars. We can also do more if needed. We are also fast! Not days to review a loan….minutes is all it takes to appraise your item to do a loan against it. Yes we do this for a living, however I am proud that because of us, John’s car was repaired so he could get to work. Or Jane’s pet was able to see the Vet. Or Mary’s lights were kept on when some other emergency came up. Extra back to school money was provided. We are a small family owned and operated store, the compassion and customer service we provide is unparalleled! Corporate stores don’t seem to have that same interest in their customers. We also don’t run a corporate model with all decisions in black and white. We are able to make exceptions to get our customers the help they need. We supplied a local college student with a 1000.00 scholarship through the National Pawnbrokers Assoc.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Taxes are crippling the city. Overhead is very high. These costs are passed on to consumers. Doing business outside the city allows us to pass that savings along to our customers.
