Today we’d like to introduce you to Percy Scott.
Percy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born to a blind mom and father. My father left us when I was five. Things were rough but I remember at 10 years old, I knew there was more to life than what I was experiencing, my mother couldn’t give me much because she couldn’t see… but she did give me a vision. She said, never let people define who you are because of where you are.
She said, “Son, if you don’t clearly tell your story, someone else will and you can’t control what they say.” So I promised myself that even though we were broke, I wouldn’t act poor. I knew being broke was temporary but poor is a state of mind. So, I have spent the rest of my life finding ways to shed light on dark situations, now our team builds programs for companies and entrepreneurs who have a vision for their business but just can’t see how to move to the next level of success.
As a teenager, I joined every sports team I could. I used sports as my release from the poverty stricken environment I was in. I was blessed to get a full football scholarship to Illinois State University. I had a very successful college career, I was very active with my fraternity Iota Phi Theta. We put on the best events on campus. We were perceived as the go to organization to get things done. A couple of my fraternity brothers and I started an entertainment company. We threw huge parties and comedy shows and we made good money. Then 911 hit and everyone was afraid to come outside. Trying to uplift the community, I decided to throw a huge family fun festival Bloomington, IL. My partners didn’t want to invest, so I did it myself. I invested my own money with no one to bounce ideas off of, no adviser to give me sound instructions on how to market and I also didn’t get weather insurance. Well it rained all day and I lost my life savings in one day. Broke and busted. I had to moved back in with my mother in Harvey, IL.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road. When I launched my agency, I was alone and I could not afford to pay for additional staff. So I developed the 17 hat syndrome. I was the sales rep, the accountant, the administrator and the marketing arm. I was good at marketing but I knew I could not build the kind of agency I wanted by myself. So for two years I struggled.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Global 360 Marketing story. Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel that what you believe is what you experience. I remember times in my athletic career that individuals or teams were physically better suited to win. But I was determined in my mind that they would have to out plan, out hustle and out perform me for the entire game because I was going to give it all I had for as long as it took. Most could not do it. Then other times in life where I just thought I could just show up because of my talent and I failed miserably. So, I had learned there is no such thing as luck. Faith, attitude and preparation will always play the biggest role in life and business.
