Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Fardon.
Patricia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I love everything beautiful. As a young girl growing up in Brazil, I loved giving my friends and cousins makeovers. I wanted everybody to look and feel pretty. It just made me happy. When I was 16, I moved to Florida, where I got my first job as a make-up artist for Suzanne Morel Cosmetics. It was there that I began to learn professional techniques. After that growing experience, I studied make-up artistry for the film and television industry at the Berger Institute of Production Technology.
I got my start in the world of print and commercial advertising working for photographer Rick Gomez. Seventeen years later, I’m proud to say I’ve had my work featured in various magazines including Prevention, Woman’s World, Parenting, American Baby, USA Today, Beanstalk, Scholastic, Healthy Pregnancy, Lifestyle, and Remedy MD, to name a few. Being fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish has allowed me to work with international clients and a broad spectrum of talent. Some of my favorite clients include Crocs, Ameritrade, AT&T, Blackberry, Colgate, Brain Fit, Florida Tourism and Koerich.
As a lover of art and beauty, I also enjoy cooking, interior decorating, fine art, architectural tours, theatre, film, music, and great writing.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Moving from a familiar market to a new city with a completely different market has been very challenging. It’s like starting your business all over again.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Patricia Fardon Makeup story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in multi ethnicity and mature skin makeup for print/tv and special events. I carry a complete kit of professional lines of all natural, vegan and cruelty free makeup and skin care products and I’m very proud to have made the switch. My makeup style is very glamorous and yet extremely natural. This really sets me apart from other companies, and the fact that I have professional production technology training in film, television and print, when most other makeup artists only have cosmetology school training.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I guess I could say that I’m very lucky to have met great people along the way who have helped me in my business, but having said that, luck is a small part of my success. I have worked really hard for everything I have today. I’m very grateful to have this type of disposition, but I’m also grateful for all the people who have given me opportunities and shared their knowledge with me.
