Today we’d like to introduce you to P.J. Maurer.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I always had an entrepreneurial mindset. The idea that you could be in control of your life and finances was always appealing to me. I never did quite well working for someone else either. After high school came to an end, I decided to launch a business rather than go to college. In January of 2018, My Sentiments Exactly INC. was officially born. I believe that getting an education is great, however, I never fit in the school system mentality. I believe in dreaming big and achieving your dreams no matter how scary or hard it may seem. This is not an idea that school systems typically promote. I chose a more hands-on form of education and 1 year later I can say I own a successful gifting company called My Sentiments Exactly INC.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always obstacles here and there, but I cannot complain. Every obstacle or challenge truly is an opportunity to better yourself or learn a new approach to something. My own personal obstacle was finding a way to market and reach the world. There are a lot of established companies out there waiting to crush the competition, so it can be a bit intimidating. You just have to look inward for your strength and what it is that keeps you going. If you push through, you WILL succeed.
My Sentiments Exactly INC. – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My Sentiments Exactly INC. is a luxury gifting company for the discriminating client. We put together high end, high-class gift arrangements featuring the best brands known to the country. We work closely with companies like Swarovski, Fossil, Coach, etc. which makes them well worth the investment. Nobody in the gift industry does quite what we do. We took “gift basket” to a whole new level. While others feature your bread, tree nuts, cheese etc., ours features top champagnes, crystal champagne flutes, crystal centerpieces, bath products, and much more all depending on which arrangement you choose. We feature a new arrangement in the albums on our Facebook page every day.
We then took it a step forward and developed a program we like to call “Orchestrate”. This enables the customer to fill out a report on the type of gift their looking into to for their occasion! They can also call us and we will personally customize a gift arrangement for an affordable price. We work one on one with our client to ensure that the arrangement is to their sentiments exactly. This is helpful to customers who are not quite sure what to get their recipient or customers who are short on time and can delegate the task to us.
My Sentiments Exactly INC. is known for extravagance and good taste. Our slogan is “Impress With the Best” and we intend to do just that. But this company is much more than just fancy items and bling. I believe that everyone deserves to have a little bling in their life. Everyone deserves to feel like a part of the 1 percent. When you open that box and see the arrangement inside, we want our customers to feel that special glimmer. A basket full of beauty. Being around beautiful things has a profoundly positive effect on people. We intend to share that with the world. As a company, I am most proud of my amazing team. The people who love this vision as much as I do, and who are always willing to go that extra mile to make customers and each other happy. That is who we are.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is happiness. Success is also achieving the things you set your mind to. If you are happy with what you’re doing, you are living your most authentic life, and accomplishing the things you set your mind on, then that to me is the very definition. Some might say success has everything to do with the amount of 0’s in the bank or the cars we drive, but those things will not keep you happy in life. Being true to yourself and having love in your life is what success is.
