Today we’d like to introduce you to Octavio Duran.
Octavio, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started as an associated attorney at a personal injury law office. I met a colleague of mine who worked for a worker’s compensation office who would pair up with me on all of our Spanish speaking clients. He would soon join Hart & David, and he would periodically call me to join his firm and run their personal injury department. He eventually made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and so I accepted to come to join his firm. Hart & David is now Hard David Carson, LLC and I’ve been with this firm now for a little under 2 years, and have been loving every minute of it.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been for the most part. I’ve had to learn how to manage a law firm – something they don’t teach you in law school:) – and how to handle all other components of being a partner. But none of these endeavors has been overwhelming or something I didn’t foresee. The work is endless, but it’s good to be busy.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hart David Carson, LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My firm is multifaceted, with multiple legal departments. We handle the business law, real estate, worker’s compensation, and personal injury. My specialty here is in personal injury. We handle anything under the personal injury umbrella from slip and falls, to medical malpractice and catastrophic injury/death cases. I thoroughly enjoy working on premises liability cases. It’s thrilling to learn if companies were compliant with OSHA regulations and/or their own internal policies, and make them compensate my clients for failing to comply.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love everything during our summers! 🙂 I love the street festivals, the music and drinks by the river, and the wonderful restaurants with outdoor patios. Much like everyone else, I dislike traffic and winters.
