Thanks for sharing your story with us Nycholas. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been creative in life but art and tattooing got serious around the ending of high school (2013) I started apprenticing in 2015 at HammerHeadTattoos on Halsted and Archer Bridgeport area and began my career. I didn’t really have a tattoo home until February 2018 at Lucky Kat Tattoo where I feel I’ve worked my hardest on tattoos/art and have tried to be the most professional I can be for my clients and the shops clients. It’s always been about working hard on your craft to get to where you are with it. What you put in is what you’ll get out.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a rough bumpy road but very worth it for me. It’s hard balancing different jobs while tattooing and learning to tattoo. Some struggles are not tattooing every day, being booked, connecting with clients ideas and balancing your work load. Sometimes you’re at the shop all day. Things have gotten smoother through the 3 years. I tattoo full time now at Lucky Kat so I don’t have to worry about other jobs and me being tired with my schedule. I decided to make that full time decision in 2017. I just didn’t want to work for anyone anymore.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lucky Kat Tattoo Chicago – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Lucky Kat tattoo is a great atmosphere, all artists take their job serious and want to learn. They also try to put their best tattoo art out there every time. We have 2 locations Owned by Cesar Romero. One in Whiting, Indiana which is the original location and the 2nd shop in Downtown Chicago. I specialize in Neo- Traditional which is like American Traditional but more colors and line weights in my opinion. The style also presents realistic features and details depending on the piece. This is what I’m known for. I like a lot of color saturation with line weights to make things pop on skin. Hmm what am I proud of? I’d have to say the pride of what Lucky Kat is. A clean professional shop who takes pride in their work and clients. Also to work hard as an artist and to make a career of it. I think that’s how we separate ourselves. We’re always working and motivating each other. I think our team really works well together and have a great diverse group of artists with plenty of different styles.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the food in the city of course lol. And all the fest that go on in the summer. There is always something to do. I’d say right now is the on-going construction all the time.
