Today we’d like to introduce you to Niki Moon.
Niki, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for hair and making people feel better about themselves. It has been a long-standing belief of mine that every person is beautiful, and I feel it’s my job to enhance it. I have wanted to do hair ever since I can remember. I have been active in the salon industry for over 19 years. I immediately developed a hunger for learning, quickly moving up in the industry.
While attending cosmetology school I managed a new up-and-coming salon in the heart of Downtown Naperville. While there I participated in cosmetology competitions, fashion shows, and photo shoots. I eventually outgrew that salon and moved to a larger local salon in 2005. While working there I participated in advanced classes that expanded my knowledge and I gained wonderful clientele/friends.
After being a stylist at My previous salon for 5 years, I moved on to becoming an independent stylist. I worked for myself for the first time and grew my clientele and business even more. It was an amazingly rewarding experience. After working for myself for 3.5 years I decided I wanted to create something greater and opened my first Niki Moon Salon location which was a small 6 chair hair salon. I put together a truly amazing team of stylists. We were doing so well and grew extremely fast, which then led me to expand into our current location which is 4 times the size of our former location.
I love every aspect of this industry. This career is so much more than a haircut, it’s about the experience my salon team is able to provide to for our clients.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a business owner is never a smooth road, there are definitely bumps along the way!
There is a lot of time, money, risk, and personal sacrifice that goes into owning a business. When you put your all into your business it is extremely difficult not to take it personally when someone says something negative about your business. It is important to separate your personal feelings from the situation and take a professional approach. Take the negativity and turn it into a positive. Learn how to grow and improve the situation. I also strongly believe in being honest and doing what is right. If you run your business with your customers’ best interest at heart, they will reward you.

Niki Moon Salon and Spa focus on all things hair and skin related. We dedicate our time to understanding everything there is to know about hair and skin and sharing that with our clients.
Our main focus is the customer experience. In our hectic and busy society having a little “me time” is important. We really focus on catering to our customers while in the salon and making sure they have an enjoyable and relaxing experience. We truly believe there is beauty in every single person. Every day we strive to make each and every one of our clients feel better, happier, and more beautiful.
I’m most proud of the amazing team I have established. They care about our guest and they work very hard each day to provide an extraordinary experience.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I LOVE our city! How could you not?! I definitely have an attachment to the area. I love the people here — they are warm, friendly, loyal, and very supportive of local businesses. Clients genuinely love to celebrate the success of their area businesses and with their support, we have been able to flourish.
My only dislike would probably be winter, it lasts a very long time.
