Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Rotto.
Nicole, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hair styling saved my happiness. Ten years ago I was working in accounting at a law firm and wildly unhappy. My hairstylist told me it takes one to know one and you’re simply in the wrong industry. Two weeks later I jumped in and it’s been the best decision of my life. Fast forward 10 years and I own a studio salon. Owning my business allows me the freedom to be a creative artist while focusing 100% on my client’s needs. I’m a blonde expert but never overlook the need for an amazing haircut. My goal is to be your day maker.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anyone successful will tell you failure is part of the journey. I want to give an incredibly personal and customized experience to each client. That does not always fit in with salon culture. I worked in a salon that was about money 1st and results 2nd. Fighting to change the priority has been my biggest struggle and motivation to own my own salon.

Nicole Rotto Styling is all about you, it’s a studio space so you are the only priority. I specialize in color with a focus on blondes. To attain the perfect blonde you really have to understand the subtle nuances of color. True quality is in the details. It’s fine tuning that look that sets you apart from the crowd. I’ve had the extreme pleasure of being recognized for my work in Chicago Style Weddings Magazine and Chicago Magazine.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
When I was very small I would help my mom color her hair at home and I remember thinking this was absolute magic. I still feel that way today.
