Today we’d like to introduce you to Nenad Spasojevic.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
As far back as I can remember, there was always that creative spark that kept me going. That creative obsession was shaping itself through a few different outlets over time and it has never stop evolving. Photography entered my life about 5 years ago in the time when everything else stopped so abruptly and saved me from going crazy, so to speak. It has enhanced the way I look at things; it has made me more finely attuned to the ever – changing world around me. In a way it made me stop and notice the beauty that I was taking for granted before. Since then I’m always looking for new ways to capture the environment around me.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m a cityscape – landscape photographer who strongly believes that a great photograph is not merely documenting the scene at hand, rather it is about fusing the essential vision of the artist with the subject! The search for the subject always starts with an idea. Scouting, light chasing, waiting for the perfect opportunity, are the rest of the elements that go into my work. Sometimes it requires a lot of planning and time, and sometimes, everything falls into place just by pure luck! Most of the time I will choose a spot and shoot the scene from early sunset trough dark or vice versa and later in post I will combine the best light from that 1-hour period and blend that into, in my humble opinion, the perfect representation of the light I was seeing. I love to build drama, creating that “super moment” in my work.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Everyone has a camera in their pocket now days, if you are truly passionate about photography you can do it with your phone. I can’t say that gear doesn’t matter, but it is not the most important tool in your tool box. I can’t stress enough that the most important part is patience and your creativity, some people have both more than others but they both can be learned.
“Inspiration exists, but it must find you working.” – Pablo Picasso
