Today we’d like to introduce you to Murrel Karsh.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Murrel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my career at Accenture. With a business partner, we came up with the idea to open up a sports complex in downtown Chicago. It took seven years to develop the idea, raise the money, find the property and build the building. In 1997 we opened. Shortly after opening we decided to expand our business to include corporate events and rapidly we began one of the largest team building companies in the country. We now do interactive corporate events throughout the country.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every day is a learning opportunity and certainly in the last 19 years there have been some incredible economic challenges that occurred. The most challenging were post 9/11 and post 2008 economic collapse. Both of those environments required reshaping and rethinking business strategies.

We have two business. The original part of the business is a 55,000 square foot sports and entertainment complex. On the corporate side, we are the largest team building and corporate entertainment company in the Midwest specializing in events that are designed to enhance business skills as well as those designed to enhance employee morale and build relationships such as Summer Picnics, Amazing Races, and Holiday Parties. We also execute hundreds of charitable events and donate tens of thousands of dollars of charitable items each and every year.
Because our background was business consulting our entire approach to the marketplace was very unique and enabled us to tailor and customize our offerings to the corporate marketplace. Everything we do is specifically designed and customized to create value for our clients. Our goal is to deliver exceptional events every day for our clients.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I always loved sports. I grew up in the Northern suburbs of Chicago. I went out east to college (Haverford College) and I played two sports in college.
