Meet Monica Ninker of Monica Ninker Photography in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Ninker.

Monica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a lifestyle photographer with a passion for photographing people!

Nothing makes me happier than meeting new people and telling their story. Every time I photograph I know I am doing the right thing with my life. I started in advertising and interior design but knew my heart was most happy as a photographer.

I love to watch and explore. I moved to Chicago last year after 6 years of living in Shanghai, China. (We were transferred there though to my husband’s job). Living there gave me the opportunity to develop my passion 100%. Traveling to some of the most beautiful destinations across Asia, creating a collection of images of the people and places which I denominated “A Visual Journey” https://www.monicaninker.com/a-visual-journey.

Shanghai beautiful backdrops gave me the opportunity to offer diverse types of photography sessions for Expats (families, friends, couples, seniors, etc.) who wanted to record their time in Shanghai. I love to watch and explore. As a Getty Images exclusive artist, my photographs have been published extensively worldwide in a large variety of media. Now in my new home, my pursuit is to give my clients a unique Chicago photography service in capturing their Vacation Memories and beautiful Portraits.

In every photography session, I have, including, Chicago Memories, Personal Branding, Beauty & Glamour, Couples and Teenagers I utilize natural light and Chicago downtown gorgeous backdrops to produce a curated collection of images coupled with a one-of-a-kind, carefree photography experience.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been smooth, there is a saying that when you love your job, there is nothing difficult about it. Right?

What were you like growing up?
I am originally from Mexico, City and I grew up the youngest of a family of 6 siblings. It was a fun childhood with lots of adventures and strong family bonding. I liked to dance and play with my dolls.

My dad loved to photograph us and taking film of us, after that, I was the one with the camera and taking photos of everyone. Back then is when I started my love for photography.

Nowadays my other passion is yoga and food & drinks! My husband and I are total foodies and love to explore all the restaurants in Chicago!
