Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Jacob.
Mode Events consists of 4 founders who are all Professional DJs and Native Chicagoans, Christian, Andres Martinez, Christopher Calip, Rex Balcita
They all have DJed and have been friends for over 20 years spinning and holding residencies for various clubs and bars in and outside of Chicago.
Cumulatively, they have DJed hundreds of weddings, corporate events, private events and retail in-store events.
They came together to start a DJ Company because they all realized that their versatility and their passion to please crowds has translated into their product and business model of putting the client first and helping them create memories.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Building a business from scratch is a tall task. It took us probably 2 years to develop and figure out all the processes and logistics to get to a point of actually growing and running a full fledge company. The idea of Entrepreneurship looks and sounds great but until you are doing it you do not fully realize how much time, effort, and energy is required to run a business and it never ends. You can only love the process and strive to keep moving forward at all costs.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mode Events story. Tell us more about the business.
We have grown from just DJs and have evolved to Event Professionals. Every event is unique, and we believe that every detail matters. We go above-and-beyond when it comes to understanding all of our clients’ needs. Our unique style, planning method and production process all help create elevated event experiences that are truly special!
Our focus is not on us but on our clients, helping them realize the event they have imagined. We set ourselves apart from others by taking an approach that offers one package, your package. We feel you shouldn’t have to be confined to set offerings so we cater to what makes the event yours.
Our services have since expanded to Event/Wedding Planning, Consultation, Production and Management, Lighting Design, and Video Production.
Recently, in addition to growing our wedding services, we have been fortunate to be able to deploy DJs and event services not just locally in Chicago but also in major markets across the country. In Q1 of 2018 we are set to open a second office in Las Vegas and working to offer our services in the New York and Miami areas later in the year. It’s definitely an exciting time and we are grateful to be in this position!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We feel lucky that we all have had an upbringing that nurtured business and entrepreneurship. However, we put more stock in work and hustle. Coming from immigrant parents we are all fortunate to have been instilled with the values of hard work and persistence. We have spent over 20 years learning and developing our business from DJ’ing, creating a personal brand, and catering to the market. Unlike luck, this strong work ethic has been instrumental to our success in building MODE Events and is what will take us to where we want to go in the future.
