Meet Mobolaji Akintunde of [m] mobolaji in Little Italy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mobolaji Akintunde.

Mobolaji, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off managing artists in the music business. I represented a handful of acts from Chicago from DJs and songwriters to producers and performers. At the time, our management company did everything from bookings to PR. As I evolved and learned that I was in essence building brands, I moved over to the Ad world working with a reputable agency in Chicago and bringing my strategic thinking to connecting brands with their target audience. I worked on the Yellow Tail wines, USPS and MillerCoors account. From there, I jumped into tech after helping a startup in 1871 rebrand and regain a new positioning in the market. I later joined forces with the startup and today, we help brands grow personalized relationships with their customers at scale.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Hell, no. Try not making money for a handful of years as you work hard to see your dream come to fruition. Sleepless nights and high demands can drive one crazy. Nonetheless, I appreciate all of it now. Very few things bother me when it comes to business. I really learned how to be with people. People make the world go round. So, learning the art of enrollment and engagement is something I am definitely thankful for. Also, making money does mean you need to have a green paper in your hands. The real magic is having access to the things you need and want were money is the not an exchange unit. I was able to figure that out.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the [m] mobolaji story. Tell us more about the business.
I humanize brands and help authentically connect them with people.

As a branding expert in digital tech, I work with very innovative and transformative digital products. Companies hire me to build their brand framework and guidelines. This consists of their MVP (mission, values, and purpose). I help brands figure out their “why”. In the last year or so, I have been really interested in purpose-driven companies and the impact they make on society.

Additional to my consulting work, I have been invited to speak and challenge the next generation of leaders from high schools to colleges to professional settings. I have begun taking on speaking opportunities at conferences and hosting workshops for companies looking to bring innovation to their business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. Everything that has and will continue to happen for me is as a result of the intention and energy I put out to the universe. Luck allows me to not be responsible for what happens. Rather, I cause the things that happen in my life and business. Both the ups and downs. I am fortunate to have learned from my mistakes and downfalls. I am appreciative and grateful for my breakthroughs.
