Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan O’Donnell.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
PRESENT
I left my desk job to be here, freelancing for you. And I am loving it! As a Freelance Graphic Designer, I specialize in Brand Identity and Experiential Graphic Design.
2013 – 2017
I worked at IA Interior Architects in Chicago, as an Experiential Graphic Designer. I worked on primarily large corporate office space interiors. I had the opportunity to work with other IA offices around the world on a wide variety of projects, some including LinkedIn’s new headquarters in SF, multiple GE locations, many Blue Cross Blue Shield projects and many more. (see project resume below)
2012 – 2013
I was employed by Carrmichael Design here in Chicago, as a Graphic Designer. I worked mainly on designs for Top Chef’s, Rick Bayless’ business, Frontera. Everything from environmental graphics, package design, digital displays, to page layouts for sell sheets.
2008 – 2012
I was attending school at The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago, where I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. I had two internships, the first at Minty Fresh Records, the second at the Chicago Tribune/RedEye. They were each amazing experience which contributed in who I am as a designer.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a Graphic Designer, specializing in Brand Development & Experiential Graphic Design. Brand development being, Logo Design, Brochure Layouts, Business Cards and Stationary.

The message of my work, typically speaks to the client at hand. I gain my inspiration through the music I listen to, as well as traveling the world.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
I have been blessed to be financially stable through my journey as a Graphic Designer. My advice would be to keep pushing on, and if someone needs to get a side job that supports their artistic career than that’s what they should do!
