Meet Jason Baruch and John Garchie of MedLaser USA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Baruch.

So Jason, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a BA, I set out to start my career in sales as an account executive selling office equipment to small to medium sized businesses. I enjoy connecting with people, helping solve problems, and have always had an entrepreneurial drive. It was my goal after achieving a successful year in the account executive role to obtain a medical sales position. Most medical sales jobs wanted 5+ year experience in medical sales. I applied and applied to jobs but never got any calls. I was frustrated with the process and was confused how someone obtains this job with no experience yet they wanted medical experience. After 3 months of applying and searching AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals called me. It was a grueling interviewing process with many rounds. After making all the way to the final interview I was turned away and denied the position. They gave the job to someone who previously worked for the company already trained to sell the products. I was disappointed. A month later after I completely wrote off the job interviewed for and put obtaining a medical sales job on pause the hiring manager from Astrazeneca called me back and they wanted me to come back in for 1 meeting with the regional sales director. They wanted to offer me a job they just created, I impressed them so much during the interviewing process they offered me the job they created a job for an entry level trainee pharmaceutical sales representative who would transition into a full-time account manager. After a successful 2 years at Astrazenca selling respiratory products I transitioned another pharmaceutical company who offered a brighter future. I spent 5 years with Boehringer Ingelhiem selling respiratory, cardiology, and diabetic medicine. My time a Boehringer Ingelheim I was a top national sales performer achieving 6 figure incomes. I have always wanted to start my own business and I spent several years researching, brainstorming what I could do. I know medical sales and interacting with Drs which I have been successful in. I started to research companies around the globe which are up and coming. I decided I wanted to bring the next up company and medical product to the united states from somewhere in the world which would help clinics save money. Over several years I researched all different types of innovative medical products in many different companies. I came across medical lasers, after investigating many different companies globally I found an innovative company out of South Korea. After a year of developing a relationship with the company and discussing my business plan I was able to close a meeting with the CEO of the medical device company Bison Medical. Discussing my plan with my now business partner John Garchie and a month of convincing him to hop on a plane with me to travel to Seoul, South Korea. We booked out ticket. Over a week of business meetings with the executive staff we presented the business plan to launch their medical laser line in the United States for the first time under MedLaser USA. The final meeting with the CEO of Bison Medical in sushi restaurant in the basement of a high-rise building in Seoul, over shots of Saki he granted us the opportunity for exclusive distribution rights otherwise called master distributor for their products. The CEO told us that we are young and we have balls coming all the way to Soul. He said at our age he started a company importing knee braces from the United States. He saw himself in us and respected what we did. Over more Saki he agreed to give us the opportunity for master distributor. We celebrated with more saki. MedLaser USAs goal is to help physicians & hospitals save money on their medical equipment purchases. We have the most affordable, effective, high quality built medical lasers options in the entire market offering 50% savings from current market options. We are currently working with Chicago’s Top plastic surgeons, expanding nationally, and growing every day. As our business continues to evolve we offer solutions which help solve physician’s problems which include liquidating any unused medical equipment and helping practices in acquiring specific equipment at lower costs. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No it has not been a smooth road. There are constant challenges every day. Being a business owner is about solving problems and finding a solution to those. Problems come every day. You’re constantly learning and perfecting the best way to do business.
