Meet Dr. Mayo Adegbuyi of BizCrown Media in West Dundee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mayo Adegbuyi.

Dr. Mayo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was fortunate to have been preparing for this company all my life without knowing it. I went to art school for my bachelors when social media didn’t exist, got my masters in marketing from Roosevelt University and Doctorate in Business from Argosy University, all while working and professionally apparently learning the business operations at different levels. To be even more fortunate, my doctoral thesis was on the “effectiveness of social media to businesses” at a time where there was barely if any academic research on social media.

The time came when I was let go from my corporate job just after I had twins. In hindsight, that was the best thing that happened to me. I had the opportunity to spend time with my newborns while preparing to build BizCrown Media with all I had learned since undergrad till then. I joined local chambers and business associations and started helping businesses achieve goals through social media and other digital marketing strategies. BizCrown Media has since evolved into a full-fledged digital marketing agency now offering services in social media, search engine optimization, video marketing and more to many businesses.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth, but neither was it expected to be. The bumpiness in the road mixes things up for the right results. Just like every new business owner, you deal with the growth and sustainability on your own which can be daunting, especially if you’ve been used to running teams and a regular paycheck. Also, playing every role as an entrepreneur initially before getting things running right with the right support and people in place was also a task

We are a digital marketing agency, providing services that increase awareness for brands using social media, search engine optimization (SEO) and content marketing.

I’m most proud of how we have really exposed businesses to their target audiences and communities and the positive effects that have come from that. We are fortunate to be in a cutting edge industry where the demand and importance are continuously growing.

What sets us apart are our strategies and experience. We have non-conventional methods and marketing insights into industries and locations that lets us implement rewarding strategies.
