Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Rosenbloom.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I loved practicing Emergency Medicine and did so for 18 years, completing my residency at the University of Illinois and then as an Attending Physician and Associate Professor at Northwestern Memorial Hospital
About 10 years into my practice I suffered a severe neck injury and was twice scheduled for major surgery. After considerable research, I decided to follow a different approach using complementary and alternative therapies. These included multiple modalities and intense, three times daily interventions and anti-inflammatory supplements. I recovered 100% without surgery. The neurosurgeon was very surprised.
This started my journey into complementary and alternative medicine whereas I studied the field for 8 years, culminating in my receiving a Certificate in Age Management Medicine 10 years ago from the Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation.
After this training, I left Emergency Medicine and officially opened my practice focused on Optimal Performance and Age Management Medicine. I started my practice primarily with men looking for testosterone replacement therapy and post-menopausal women interested in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. I found this quite limiting over the years and have greatly expanded my practice and I now specialize in optimizing health and performance at all ages from 18 to 85 years old.
I see patients ranging from couch potatoes (who want to get off the couch!), to Olympic athletes, men and women, healthy or battling obesity, heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases or cancer. The common denominator – they want to feel better, be healthier and perform better in all aspects of their lives. It is very gratifying to help my patients reach levels of health and performance that they thought would no longer be attainable to them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I bought the best equipment including a DEXA body analyzer that costs over $150,000, advertised heavily and overall invested over $500,000 to get this practice off the ground.
Meanwhile, I thought I knew everything I needed to know in this field after completing my certification. The reality was that this was just the beginning and I have continued to study the field intensively, achieving additional certifications and enrolling in a fellowship program along the way. Lifelong learning is essential in this field. My practice has now taken off over the last couple of years. The secret? Happy, healthy, successful patient referrals. I do not try to build my practice anymore – I take the best care of my patients and they build my practice for me!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about LIFEFORCE: Dr. Mark Rosenbloom – what should we know?
The name of my practice is LIFEFORCE. The core of what I do is hormone optimization: testosterone for men, bioidentical hormone replacement for women, and thyroid, growth hormone, insulin optimization for all patients. In addition to hormone optimization, I have extensively studied diet (and nutritional supplementation), exercise and genetics. I counsel my patients with a comprehensive holistic approach to optimize their health and performance and prevent sickness and disease.
I am known for very extensive reviews and analyses of all aspects of my patient’s health. We spend 2-3 hours with a patient, analyzing their testing, medical history, goals and lifestyle until we have a clear-cut actionable plan.
We are most proud of our patients, who, with our help, have been able to overcome previously debilitating conditions or reach pinnacles of success that they had not thought possible.
I measure my success by how well my patients do. We love to get feedback from patients. For example: about the weight they have lost, how fit they have become, how great their sex life is and how much more effective they are at work. Or simply that they are no longer experiencing the symptoms that brought them to see me in the first place.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have an excellent team and they take great care of my patients. Rosie Madeja is my practice manager and keeps everything “humming” and my patients simply love her!
Chelsey Williams manages the supplements side of my practice and makes sure my patients never run out of the supplements and bioidentical hormones so important to their success.
I would also like to acknowledge my patients who are engaged and true partners in their health. I am thankful that they keep telling their relatives, friends, and associates about their health triumphs and so we continue a stream of new patients!
