Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Birch.
Born in Manhattan, owner and principal designer, Marina Alexandra Birch spent her childhood crisscrossing the globe while living in New York and London, gaining a unique and worldly perspective at a very young age.
With a degree in Art History from Princeton University, as well as a BFA in Interior Design from the Harrington College of Design, Birch founded the company over a decade ago with the goal of fusing her training in art, architecture, interiors, and fashion to design singularly unique, and impeccably planned celebrations for our clients.
Has it been a smooth road?
Owning your own business is never a smooth road, but for me it has always been worth it. From learning the ropes in the industry, to growing our skill-set as a company to be able to tackle very large-scale extremely high end and specialized projects has taken a lot of blood sweat and tears to get here.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Birch Design Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are known for creating a vision for each client that truly reflects his/her/their sensibilities.
We are known for being logistical experts – we have been called upon to create, design and manage some incredibly intricate and complex events, and the bar just keeps getting raised.
We are known for events that are immersive – that take into consideration the gusts’ every sense and experience to transport them/transform their perspective for a few hours. This can be accomplished in very grand and large-scale ways, but also via small touches and thoughtful details.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The people are interesting, interested, well-traveled, curious, adventurous, and real, grounded.
I don’t love the long winters (but I love the winter), and I don’t love how Chicago is seen as provincial from the coasts.
