Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Miranda.
Maria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started loving the beauty industry at a very young age. Going to the nail salon with my grandmother and my mom was my favorite hobby. But it wasn’t until I moved to the US in 2002 when it really became a passion. I remembered saving money just to go get my nails done, during my free times I used to do my own pedicures and even my mother would asked me to practice on her. My dream was to open a nail salon one day and after many years of savings, getting experiences from nails techs, observing their environments, pricing, the services offered and management’s interaction, my vision became clear.
Luckily in November 2017, my dream had become my reality!
I thought it was a good idea to share this vision to my friend, and now business partner, Tania Bravo as she was one of the best nail techs I had knew. From that point, we put our big girls’ pants on and started our project. We were both eager and driven to make this vision a reality, and because of that we were able to open our salon in a short few months.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, it wouldn’t be worth it if it wasn’t challenging. Although for the most part it’s been smooth, finding the right location, thinking of the right name, getting our business license, hiring the right staff, etc. has not been a walk in the park. Some of these challenges came easier than others, but we are very happy and feel fortunate at how it all turned out!
I truly believe that when things are meant to happen all the elements and the right people will be available to you.
Another challenge has been with the daily operations at the salon. You have good days and bad, but it’s all part of the experience. We are new and still trying to build but feel extremely happy to have so many repeat customers and positive feedback. This allows us to keep striving for more and opens our minds to even more opportunities.

TM Lacquer Room is a Nails, Wax & Beauty Bar located in the heart of Pilsen. We specialize in Nail Art, Bikini/Brazilian Wax and Eyelash Extensions.
