Meet María Elizaincín of Be Sweet by Maria

Today we’d like to introduce you to María Elizaincín.

María, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m originally from Uruguay and I studied gastronomy there and started working in several restaurants and hotels. I always worked in pastries and sweets. After I got married my husband got promoted and we been relocated to NY.

That was a fantastic time for us.We were just married, no kids and living in NY. I worked in several great restaurants and learn so much! It was amazing! After having kids I decided to start working from home.

We eventually moved to Chicago and here is where I started my business. I learn all about fondant and started practicing and practicing.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not easy, it still isn’t. The most difficult part is promotion, to let people know what I do. It took me almost 6 years to get where I’m now.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Be Sweet by Maria – what should we know?
I do custom Cakes, cookies, cupcakes and cake pops. I absolutely love what I do and I put a lot of love into my products. What makes me happy is to be able to make people happy with my sweets. That means the world to me.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Creativity, detail, a lot of patience and love. Combining all these qualities you can always succeed.
