Today we’d like to introduce you to Maira Muheet.
Maira, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started at a very young age working in fashion. I worked in several clothing stores all around Chicago as a personal stylist and sales associate. At one point, I had to focus on a stable career so, I studied Health & Nursing at Robert Morris University. I starting working in healthcare right away. I am the first woman in my family that had opportunities like college,work, travel, and marriage. My parents are immigrants from Mexico and for half of my life I lived without them. I became independent at a very young age. My parents and family are hard working people that made many sacrifices. They inspire me to work very hard in order to grow and succeed. As the years passed, I kept questioning what I need to do vs want to do. It was certain that I wanted to make an impact by sharing my passion. One day, I decided to build the courage to fail. YES! To fail and not once, but over and over, as many times, it will take but finally completing my dream. I learned that life is about taking risks and being fierce to accept the outcomes of those risks. I am a strong beautiful independent woman. I love to encourage and empower women to step out their comfort zones and be brave .
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been an easy road at all. Many successful people share their achievements but hardly share all the work that has to be carefully planned to bring it all together. My struggle has been managing my time working a full time and having the energy to learn, research, and work extra for my business. I have not stopped thinking of MAUE Co. since I started. MAUE Co. has been my motivation every day. It has been an escape from my daily struggles that embrace my creativity.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am very fortunate to be a young woman in business. It’s still not easy for women to be bold and step out alone. I decided to go against all the odds not to aim perfection but only to be myself. Throughout my journey, I have been able to embrace who I am and connect with inspiring women that support authenticity and originality.
