Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Lakowske.
The Peach Brand was started with the vision to bring healthy, tasty food in an approachable and simple way. Often times, food can be marketed as “healthy” but is leaving customers confused by sugar counts, chemicals, and artificial flavorings. The Peach Brand granola is all ten real ingredients or less, no chemicals or preservatives, and no refined sugars or grains.
Maggie grew up loving to cook and bake in the kitchen with her mom in the northwest suburbs. After college, in her Lincoln Park apartment, she took to “healthifying” family recipes to preserve flavor, but lighten up the dish. A combination of her love of cooking and love of leading a whole foods diet lifestyle, she set out to bring this passion and belief to the world through food. The Peach Brand has started with granola but has goals on granola bars (almost on the market), protein bars, snack foods, and dog treats.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not. It was very challenging to start the company with a full-time job since producing a food product is actually a very time-consuming task. There were roadblocks figuring out what licensing and qualifications were needed to get into farmers markets, stores, etc.

The Peach Brand stands apart from other healthy granola companies because all flavors are ten real ingredients or less, only sweetened with honey, and the fat source is coconut oil. I am very proud of tackling the world of food with absolutely no previous work in the field.
I am also very proud of the fact that the recipe is my own, I make the product, and distribute. End to end, my hands are running the show, and I believe that personal touch is what ensures it is exactly the product I want to be sending out to customers to feed their spirit and adventure.
What were you like growing up?
I am the second of four kids, a middle child for life! I was also digging my hands in the ground, finding worms and giving them to my sister (who did not find them as cool as I did). I was always my mom’s side in the kitchen, learning (and making a huge mess!) beside her. I tried every and all sports and would always be found playing with legos over reading a book.
I also was very inquisitive and determined. I loved to go to school but would panic at the first sign of breaking the rules (literally.. being late to class was a no-no for this girl). I was always interested in baseball, cooking, and playing with my siblings. In high school, I was very involved in any and all clubs on campus and my family life. I was also known to always brighten people’s day with my “sunny personality,” always smiling and trying to cheer people up.
