Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyn Harvie.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I originally got my real estate license with the purpose of buying investment properties, it was never my intention to sell real estate. I decided it would be best to shadow a broker for a year to learn the ropes before jumping into making my first purchase. After spending a year shadowing another broker I came to really enjoy it and started thinking more about pursuing it as a full-time career.
Initially, I continued to work as a part-time Physical Therapist while also building my real estate business. I did that for quite a while and then was offered the opportunity to join a top producing agent at my office as an assistant. After a year of working on that team, I decided to take the leap of faith and step out on my own full time. It was a nerve-racking experience but with some hard work, a lot of sacrifices, and persistence I was able to build a business. Today I have a growing business that is built on referrals from past clients and friends.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, there are always bumps in the road, in fact, I welcome those challenges as I feel it’s the only way to grow and learn.
The biggest struggle, in my earlier years, was maintaining a high level of service for my clients while also growing my business. I had to implement processes for transaction management to make sure that regardless of how much my business grew, each client and transaction, was receiving the same level of attention. I wanted to be sure that I maintained a consistent level of customer services.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Baird & Warner – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in residential buying and selling in the downtown area. I enjoy working with home buyers and being able to guide them every step of the way. I like to educate my buyers so they can make informed decisions. I also enjoy helping my sellers market their homes and ensuring that they get the highest and best price in the least amount of time. I take great pride in making sure my clients go from contract to close quickly, seamlessly and as hassle-free as possible.
I am most proud that my business is built on referrals. To me, that is the highest compliment I can receive. It tells me that my clients were so happy with their experience that they want their friends and family to have the same experience. Home buying and selling can be a very stressful time so to know that my clients had a great experience means the most to me. I think my clients would tell you that what sets me apart is that my relationship with them extends far beyond the closing table.
I am blessed to have developed great friendships along the way with many of my clients and they remain in my life long after handing over the keys.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
There are so many things I love about our city. One of my favorite things is the unique charm that each neighborhood has to offer. I think there is a neighborhood for every lifestyle. Whether you want a quiet community or the vibrancy of downtown, there is something for everyone. I also think we have the best of both worlds here in Chicago.
We have the hustle and bustle of a large metropolis paired with the most amazing Midwest people. It doesn’t get much better than that. Of course, my least favorite thing about the city is the winter weather. But like most Chicagoan’s, I spend the winter reminding myself how amazing spring, summer and fall is and it helps to ease the pains of winter.
