Today we’d like to introduce you to Luca Mati.
Luca, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Italy I became surrounded by coffee. My father owned an Italian Bar which here in the states is known as a coffee shop. Then from 1989 to 1996, I worked at Essse Café in Florence, Italy. My entire life became about coffee. In 1996 I moved to Lincolnwood, IL and in 1997 I started Mati Coffee from my garage. In 1998 I relocated the business to an office/warehouse in Elk Grove Village and continued to run it here ever since.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is a struggle when you have to take time apart from your family. I love my wife and kids very much but I also love my job. I like to meet all my customers face to face. It gives me a chance to get to know them and their needs. It also lets me provide them the best customer service and the best product.
Please tell us about Mati Coffee.
We are an authorized service center for Delonghi, Saeco, Essse Café as well virtually all espresso coffee machines. We also sell machines and coffee right in our showroom. We provide services and product to many hotels, restaurants, cafes, privately owned businesses and people at home.
