Today we’d like to introduce you to Loreen Hospodar.
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Loreen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Oddly enough, I am a planner that never planned her business. I graduated with an illustration degree from Grand Valley State University and received a job in West Loop art gallery with the thought of learning the ins and outs of the art world. With luck, a family friend approached me about creating a painting for her niece as a wedding gift. We decided on a painting of the bride’s bouquet. Stepping back from this initial piece, I felt like there was an opportunity to pursue, so I left the gallery and began Reenie Rose with the focus on creating paintings of bouquets as a piece of memorabilia from a wedding.
Several years into Reenie Rose, I began to assist other planners on wedding days. This lead me to becoming a part of the Clementine Custom Events team and continuing to explore my own business. Another stroke of luck happened when Kelly, the owner of Clementine, approached me about creating a chalkboard piece for her son’s 1st birthday. My first foray in hand-lettering had other planners, wedding industry professionals and prospective clients responding to my artwork on Instagram. Slowly, my business snowballed into more than just bouquet paintings.
Today, my business comprises of anything and everything creative for weddings to home to babies. I specialize in creating something custom for my clients based on their needs and my creative expertise. I love staying connected to the wedding world with my hand-lettering work and exploring other creative opportunities after a couple’s big day!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning your own business is never a smooth road. Going into the year my business took off with more of the hand-lettering work, I was about ready to call it quits and go get a job at Starbucks or something. Thank goodness I was asked to challenge myself with something other than the paintings!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Reenie Rose – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Most people associate my work with hand-lettering, but my artistic skills run the gamut of anything creative I can get my hands on. I like to come up with personalized creative solutions for my clients whether that’s through creating a painting, writing on a mirror, making paper flowers or designing some other option to make it all their own.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
There are so many exciting new things in store for Reenie Rose this year. The most exciting plan is getting a studio space to create my projects out of. It’s been a long time coming……time to get my home back!
