Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Edison.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started The Dog Spot in 2005 because I was a consumer with a need. I had a very busy little Jack Russell Terrier who needed a lot of care and attention. While I worked long days, Emma was home alone and it broke my heart. There was nothing available in our area for pet care, so I saw a need and an opportunity to make a difference for other families with pets. Over the years my company has grown tremendously. We started out as just a daycare and boarding facility. Soon we added a full grooming salon, taxi transportation services and dog training classes. As our guests began to age we saw another need among our senior pets…water therapy. So we added an indoor swimming pool and massage therapy to our list of offerings. Now our 15,000 SF Pet Resort is the best place for man’s best friend!
Has it been a smooth road?
Every business is going to have challenges from finding the right employees to growing competition. Our biggest struggle over the years has been seeing the sweet puppies that started with us grow into senior pups and move onto be angels in the sky. That will always be the hardest part of our job.

The Dog Spot Petcare is known for being a leader in the petcare industry for over 12 years. Setting the way by offering only the highest quality services and best products on the market. Our caring and attentive staff are fully trained and certified so that all of our guests receive the best care possible. We offer quality services for the busy dog owner from doggie daycare, overnight boarding and grooming to training classes, swimming sessions, massage therapy and taxi transportation. Truly a dog’s home away from home!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The petcare industry is constantly growing and dog owners need services to help manage their busy households. Families will always have pets/dogs and need services to help care for them.
