Lily, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our salon was established in July 2014. My mom and I have been in the nail industry since 2000. We owned several nail salons in Queens, New York. My mom relocated to Chicago in 2013 as she planned to retire from the industry. However, I brought up the idea to her about venturing out and opening a nice boutique salon in downtown Chicago. The idea sparked her interest and that’s how Bedazzled came around.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the hardest part about running a business is to find good nail technicians to join our team and to help grow our business. Surprisingly there aren’t that many nail technicians in Chicago that can do nail enhancements and nail art.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bedazzled nails – what should we know?
We specialize in nail enhancements such as acrylic, gel and silk nails. We also do dip powder manicure which doesn’t require led light curing. We also do all kinds of fun nail art. If a client brings in a design that they saw on Instagram we can replicate it for them. I often attend nail shows to keep up with the latest nail trends. We also carry designer nail polish such as Christian Louboutin, Chanel, Dior and Saint Laurent.

My mother is my biggest supporter, mentor, and cheerleader. She is also very dedicated and contributed in many ways into making our business a success. She’s a highly sought after nail artist and loved by all of our clients. She’s the face of bedazzled as I’m mainly in the back office. She’s always at the salon to make sure that everything runs smoothly. She loves to talk to our clients and treat them like friends or family. She has built a very strong relationship with our clients over the years and that has helped us in retaining their loyalty.
