When HaystackID’s founder and President Kevin Glass (above right) heard that Lee Neubecker (above left) was looking to jump back into the business, he just had to have Lee on his team and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Neubecker.
Lee has a long history of working in the digital economy. After graduating from Babson College with an MBA, Lee accepted a position with Lycos.com, a top search engine provider in the late 90s. While at Lycos, he led online communities, including chat, message boards, games and other social media sites for the company. As the group product manager head of those areas, he also led the investigations and response to governmental inquiries pertaining to illicit postings, he also managed load balanced servers around the world and always got a thrill tracking down the source of attempted cyber attacks on his products by nefarious players.
He moved to Chicago in January 2000. He started his first business in Chicago, then called BuzzBoltMEDIA, a web design and software services company. Also around the same time, he met his current spouse David Greer.
Following 9/11/2001, Neubecker changed his business name to Forensicon, Inc. and began focusing on providing computer forensics investigative services. His firm quickly grew into a leading Chicago based firm with a national client base.
In 2004, David Greer and Lee Neubecker married during the brief window of time when San Francisco began issuing marriage licenses in 2004. Their first marriage was short lived when the Supreme Court of California declared their marriage null and void later on August 12th, 2004.
David Greer changed his name to David Neubecker, since they both wanted to start a family. The Neubecker’s decided to become licensed foster care parents though the Hephzibah Children’s Home Agency of Oak Park.
In 2007, the Neubeckers became parents to Michael and Braiden, who had been in Foster Care for multiple years in several different temporary foster homes. Two years following their initial foster placement with the Neubeckers, they became a forever family when Michael and Braiden were jointly adopted. Two years later, Lee accepted an offer to sell his computer forensics firm he had built into a million dollar plus company. After finishing his consulting contract for the purchaser, Neubecker experienced what it was like to not have a job. “I missed the work I used to do and realized I was far from being ready to retire. HaystackID CEO Kevin Glass made me an offer I couldn’t refuse, to join their executive team as Chief Information Security Officer. I now get to do the things I really enjoy and I work with great people.”
Lee recently earned his Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification (CISSP) and has a passion for cyber security. Lee is a member of the Union League Club of Chicago and serves as a commissioner for the River Forest Economic Development Council. When not busy at work, Neubecker enjoys playing tennis, watching movies, playing his piano and socializing with friends and family.
