Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura R Keller.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey in the health and wellness field started in the fall of 2006 when I joined a gym and fell in love with the challenge of lifting, saw how quickly it was changing my body and clearing my mind. I began teaching group fitness classes in 2007. The students began asking to work one on one with me, so I got certified to be a personal trainer. I started training in a gym in Old Town while attending the University of Illinois at Chicago. When my manager started demanding more hours than I was able to give to the school, my clients switched to private clients. I had a great clientele I trained in their home gyms throughout the city.
In 2015, I had my daughter, and I knew I wanted to be able to stay home with her, but still work a little and stay relevant in my field. I started the LR Grace Lifestyle brand to bring my fitness and lifestyle philosophy to anyone, anywhere, anytime. With clients coast-to-coast now, I am able to use my website and the LR Grace app to connect and deliver personalized workouts, yoga, sustainable lifestyle tips, and healthy, fresh recipes. I am able to both curate an encouraging community while keeping my clients accountable for real and measurable results.
I recently completed my RYT 200 hour yoga teacher training in Miami to add to the body, mind and soul experience LR Grace Lifestyle offers. Other certifications I hold are Elite Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and Youth Fitness Trainer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My most significant obstacle was during college when my manager kept demanding more hours from me. At the time, training was supposed to just be my college job. I knew I had to focus on school and had to put training on the back burner. I was sad, and then a trainer from the gym called me and said a lot of my clients want to train privately. I was so happy, I was able to keep a good chunk of them, and it, in turn, started my independent training business.

LR Grace Lifestyle is online training, one-on-one personal training, private yoga and wellness summits for clients coast-to-coast. I specialize in showing clients how to balance their lifestyle with effective exercise, nutrient-dense foods, yoga, and self-love. The app gives clients customized training programs (whether pregnant, postpartum, or other limitations). Clients receive 3 customized workouts a week along with access to my yoga and meditation videos to help shape their body, mind, and soul. The app holds them accountable, educates them on proper and effective form, is convenient, as they can do it anywhere, anytime, and delivers results. I am proud of the community we’ve built within the app. The social media component helps us support and cheer each other on in our wellness journeys.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was painfully shy and I hated gym class! In junior high, I came out of my shell and played some sports. In high school, I was in cheerleading all 4 years and co-captain my junior and senior years. I also played the clarinet in band and marching band for a couple years and was Spanish Club President my senior year. My competitive and athletic interests came to light in high school.
