Meet Laura Gilarski of Five Star Creative Group in Orland Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Gilarski.

Laura, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Five Star Creative Group in May of 1995 after many years of working in both larger Ad Agencies and in-house Corporate Marketing Departments. Our philosophy is simple—we create top quality creative that is effective and innovative from initial concept thru completion, without the overhead—saving our clients’ money without sacrificing.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When having your own business, the road to success can be like a ride in the country…with occasional hills, valleys and unexpected turns. Over the past 27 years, it’s been overall smooth and pretty “scenic”, but you have to be prepared. Economic down-turns make corporations feel the need to cut back on advertising and marketing, but this is when it’s needed most.

Many of our clients we have had for years and we work with them to continue forging ahead.

Please tell us about Five Star Creative Group, Inc.
We design and produce all forms of advertising, collateral, packaging and marketing materials. What set us apart is our team approach to building their business. We truly partner with our clients to establish strategies and carry that message across all media.

We are a small business, but mighty. What I am most proud of is all the branding we have done for many companies and products, both locally and at the international level.

We educate our clients on how important it is to find their niche, become a brand, have an identity and be visually recognized with a concise targeted message.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Over the years, I have learned a lot. Our business has naturally evolved to keep up with all the ways to communicate in this industry. I do not think I would have done anything differently. It’s important to learn, grow, make mistakes, try something new, make changes and run with it!
