Meet Lacey Whitaker of Creative Motion Chicago in North Center and Ravenswood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Whitaker.

Lacy – please share your story with us. Let’s start at the beginning.

Born and raised on the beautiful beaches of Michigan, I know I am very blessed for my upbringing. My family is freakishly large and filled with a variety of talented performers, top-notch coaches and athletes ranging from the ball court to performing on the ever so glorious stage.

I have a life-long background in dance that has acted as a foundation for my studies in fitness and wellness. I am a certified Yoga teacher nationally recognized through the Yoga Alliance at the 200 Hour professional level, Pilates mat certified, Reiki Master, and continue to draw on decades of dance and yoga for my innovative classes. My balance in education and studies has led to my teaching style being fundamentally strong while maintaining an evolving inventiveness.

Creative Motion Chicago – started on the roof top of #1 Gym in June of 2013. By July we had so much interest and love and support that we had to find our own space to call home. We held our first class at our beautiful home studio on August 7, 2013 “The Merry Land of Montrose”.

Creative Motion Chicago is a dream come true. I am so very blessed to have my family, friends, and you along the way to share and help create. It’s true, together all things are possible and because of all the amazing support, many dreams have and will continue to come true! I’m so excited to see where and what we will grow to be in a week, a month and years to come. Always remember, “Trust and Follow Your Heart.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been a smooth road overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? No it hasn’t- thankfully. With CMC I see stepping stones rather than bumps in the road- Every hiccup is another opportunity for growth and expansion. I have complete faith and trust in myself and what CMC is doing here. – You Never Fail until you stop trying – Albert Einstein 😉

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Creative Motion Chicago – what should we know?
Creative Motion Will have you using “F’ words. Fun, Fit, Fabulous are just a few.

Creative Motion Chicago provides a more complete fitness environment than is offered in most studios and gyms. CMC is all about keeping it fresh and progressive. The talented instructors provide a range of classes that are suitable for all fitness levels. New students will feel comfortable in both the instruction and approach. Intermediate students will be elated with the progress they can make with our expert guidance. Advanced students will be challenged in each class and will take their motion to new heights.

Our class schedule is designed to improve the body and mind. An active body is strong and the mind is sharp. Feel inspired by our challenging classes and notice your improved mood and alertness.

The mix of principle foundation techniques, modern styles and creative classes make Creative Motion an experience unlike any other.

I am proud to say that last January CMC became a RYS (Registered Yoga School)

Our Yoga 200hr Teacher Training program is perfect for both an aspiring teacher and an individual looking to grow through the practice of Yoga. You will be exposed to foundational practices and core principals while keeping a firm foot in modern technique. We believe in mindful, safe and inspired Yoga practice.

I am also very excited and proud to say that we are now offering Reiki and chakra cleansing with Crystal therapy. It is AMAZINGGGGG.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important quality or characteristic to my success is persistence and determination no matter what the job or task is at hand. The will to endure, keep going and get up again and again- It becomes easier to get back up after the first few blows. I know I am strong and I’ve learned to rest when needed- not quit.
