Today we’d like to introduce you to Kina Wicks.

Kina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started photographing weddings 10 years ago when 2 friends asked me to shoot their big day. Within 2 years I started my business and have had the privilege of shooting over 150 weddings since. I love documenting the real moments, emotions and beauty that can be found in shooting weddings and lifestyle portraiture.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been pretty smooth, the only bumps being managing my schedule and finally hiring people and delegating work as my business has grown. I’m a perfectionist and it’s hard to let go, but feels great when you do.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kina Wicks Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m most proud of my commitment to photojournalistic capture and the quality of my full galleries. I believe every photo should be a work of art. Quality over quantity always.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
That’s a great question. I feel as if it was pure luck that got me into this business. First a boyfriend who bought me a camera and encouraged me to be an entrepreneur. Then my first official year in business, 23 couples who trusted me to capture their day. I’ve always tried to match the good luck I’ve been given with equal effort and hard work.

• My portrait coverage ranges from $600-$4000
