Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Eberl.
Kimberly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a Midwesterner at heart. I grew up in Cincinnati but then picked a colder city for college – Milwaukee, where I went to Marquette University. During my senior year, I worked at this little company called Harley-Davidson. Even though H-D was a great place to work, I wanted to check out life in Chicago. Nearly 18 years later, I’m still here, enjoying life in the “big city”. Before starting my own agency, I worked at some of the biggest PR firms in the world on exciting campaigns.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Motion PR started March 28, 2006 after I was fired. Literally the next day after receiving my termination notice, I reached out to my network and immediately received freelance work, which grew immediately. At the time, people kept telling me, “Everything happens for a reason.” The reason wasn’t evident to me at the time, but 11 years later, my resilience has helped grow the agency to a leading company in the market.
Motion PR – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Motion PR is a Chicago-based PR agency that provides strategic counsel on digital and traditional marketing services to elevate brand awareness and drive meaningful relationships for both our clients and their customers. We believe that in order to achieve this, we need to continuously redefine what it means to be at the convergence of earned, owned and paid media. To support this mission, we’re adding new skillsets to our team and developing campaigns and program that integrate traditional PR and modern marketing techniques such as SEO, influencer marketing, and paid media.
We have experience in a number of industries, however our areas of focus are in the consumer, business-to-business, technology and healthcare industries.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has been successfully growing one of Chicago’s leading PR firms, and now bringing new specialties in the agency.
